Hiking at Lake Schluchsee and in the Upper Black Forest

Lake Schluchsee is situated in one of the most beautiful hiking areas in Germany. From leisurely walks along the lakeshore to challenging mountain tours up the Feldberg – here you will find hikes for every level.

Schluchsee Circular Trail (18 km)

The classic: The circular hiking trail leads around the entire lake and offers changing landscapes of forest, meadows and lakeshore paths. Duration: approx. 5–6 hours. Difficulty: moderate.

Jägersteig (6 km)

A beautiful panoramic trail above the lake. Ideal for half a day. Also well suited for families with older children.

Feldberg Summit Hike

The Feldberg (1,493 m) is the highest peak in the Black Forest and only about 20 minutes by car from Lake Schluchsee. Various routes lead to the summit – with the Hochschwarzwald Card, the Feldberg cable car is free.

Wutach Gorge

The Wutach Gorge is one of the oldest and most impressive gorges in Germany. The hike through the gorge is an unforgettable experience (approx. 13 km, 4–5 hours).

Bildstein Circular Trail (4 km)

A short, family-friendly circular trail with beautiful viewpoints. Perfect for an afternoon walk after lunch.

Hiking Tips

Sturdy footwear and weatherproof clothing are essential in the Black Forest. Hiking maps are available at the Schluchsee Tourist Information or digitally via the Hochschwarzwald app.
